On unresolved value

The document in this museum is an issuance. The sheet behaves like a certificate that brings a practice into existence by naming it, numbering it, and signing it. Ryan Ellis Betz is the name of the hand. Daily practice is the medium. Value is left unresolved on purpose.
Read in order, the hanging is a single wing. Document 001 converts ordinary hygiene into a conceptual system: tongue as sculpture, paper as pigment reading, sponge as mark-making, aerosol as spray paint. Four tools. One closed practice. Nothing is priced. The work is only to name the materials and to keep using them.
The coordinating object is the red mark — a spray can on the sheet. Everything else is declared unmeasurable on purpose. That refusal is the joke and the doctrine. A protocol that keeps saying value remains unresolved is not failing at art. It is protecting a kind of labor from being turned into a KPI.
What the file asks of a visitor is not belief. It asks for the same attention the practices ask of the practitioner: arrive, meet the standard, do not negotiate with residue. The only job is to hang the document and leave the red mark visible.
